Pilot to Help Detect Pancreatic Cancer Early

Our practice is taking part in a new NHS pilot to help find pancreatic cancer earlier.
As part of this, we’ll be contacting some patients aged 60 and over who have recently been diagnosed with diabetes and have lost weight without meaning to. These symptoms are usually caused by other conditions, but in a small number of people, they can be early signs of pancreatic cancer.
If you’re contacted, we may ask you a few questions and, if needed, arrange further tests to rule out anything serious.
Most people contacted will not have pancreatic cancer, but checking early can make a big difference to treatment and recovery.
