Flu Appointments

What to expect at your Saturday adult flu vaccination appointment

Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time, arriving too early may cause issues with queuing measures. A member of staff will be outside the building at the Kingston Road entrance to direct you. Please have your appointment confirmation text ready to show our staff.

You are required to wear a face mask at all times when entering the building. This will help us keep all our staff and patients safe in addition to social distancing measures.

Where possible please come alone unless you have to bring an elderly relative or someone needing help.

We will be adopting a one way system on the day, the entrance will be via Kingston Road and the exit will be via the car park. If you use the car park, you will not be able to access the building via the car park entrance. If you are elderly or frail, please identify yourself to our member of staff situated at the car park entrance.

The Saturday flu clinics will be held on the ground floor of the medical centre with staff placed at the entrance and exit points to ensure you enter and exit the building correctly and as quickly as possible. We will not be able to check you in online for your appointment, instead you will be given a pre-printed form on the day with details to identify your attendance. You will be asked to remove all outer layers of clothing ie jackets/jumpers so that there is no delay having your flu jab. There will be 6 vaccination stations and you will be directed to the one of them as soon as it is your turn. You will not be invited to sit while you have your vaccination unless you say that you are unable to stand for the duration of the appointment. You will be required to leave the building via the car park entrance as soon as the Nurse/GP tells you to do so.

Please note your appointment is for your flu vaccination only so please do not enquire about booking further appointments /prescriptions or any other queries you may have.

If you do not have a pre booked appointment then you will not be able to have your flu jab that day. Please check the date and time your flu jab is booked for as you will not be seen without an appointment. If you have a mobile phone you will be sent a confirmation text when booking your appointment plus a text reminder the day before your actual appointment.

If you feel unwell after your vaccination please let a member of staff know before you leave.

Please note- the flu vaccination cannot give you flu, however some people will have some mild side effects, please visit NHS: Flu Vaccine for more information.

We endeavour to deliver a safe and effective service to our patients having their flu vaccinations during the constraints that Covid-19 has placed upon us. Thank you for your co-operation.
